Educational Video by Jeannette Molina "Do You Know Your Letter Sounds?"

I made a Video using windows movie maker and a web cam. The purpose of my video is to help my students practice their letter sounds while singing and signing. A total physical response to using signing has shown great results in the classroom, so I made a video for them to take home if they want to learn and practice it with siblings or parents.

Pod Cast

I created a pod cast using windows movie maker.  I believe that podcasts are a great way for studnets to share ideas, present projects, and communicate with others around the world using audio technology.

Digital Story

To make my digital story telling the technology I used windows movie maker.  I believe that this would be a great tool to use in the classroom by having students create an "I Am From" poem and then transforming it into a digital story.

The technology I used was a special tool called a voki found online at http://www.voki.com/  In my voki I explain how I would use it in my classroom. press play!

Two assessment styles from Prensky book I would use in the classroom

1.  The most important assessment style that I would use would be the Peer assessments.  I like peer assessments over other styles because students feel more pressured to do well, and on a positive note they can get suggestions and advice on how they may improve or receive complements on work well done.  As Prensky states, " It gives the student a feeling that their work has an audience, and that the audience cares about their work."

2.  The second most important assessment style we should teach our students is to self-assess! I believe that self assessing helps students reflect on the steps necessary to reach a goal or excel in their learning progress.  Prensky states that, " self assessing is critical because students will need and use it for the rest of their lives in order to control their actions." Self assessment gives an individual an opportunity for continual improvment.

Ning is a  tool that I could use to create a learning environment using a social network to communicate with my students, parents, and collaboration with other teachers.

Searching vs. Researching/ 3 questions

1. What is the difference between searching and researching? when reading the article I concluded that the difference between searching and researching is: searching is when you can type an area of interest into the search bar and you will get all the information that the web has to offer and you have to be cautious because it might be invalid information.  Resarching is when you gather your information from a scholary source that is more reliable and trustworthy.

2.  How might you use cell phones? I liked the website that allows you to download the app Google voice.  I think that this would be a good way to have students record a lecture or document notes.

3. what games? as far as what games I could use I really liked the game "missing letter."  I think that my students could really benifit from this game to improve on their phonological awareness!

How I Would Use Facebook In My Classroom/ Ning posting

The way I would use facebook and social networking in my classroom would be to use it as CREATING A NEWS SOURCE.  For example students can choose an interesting article in the daily newspaper that they think is important or interesting. Students can post daily their article of choice, summerize it, and then give their thoughts on the news article.  Students would then be responsible to read at least one classmates posting and give a thoughtful response on their thoughts to a classmates article of choice. As the teacher I would also like for the students to FOLLOW NEWS FEED on a social network.  At least once a week, students should follow a news feed that is not from their local community, and respond and give a thoughtful response on news thats around the world.  I believe that this gives students research experience and allows them to communicate with their classmates at home or in the school setting.
